Does a  Service Provider have to report information about ported numbers?

YesService Providers are required by the FCC to report ported numbers to the National Portability Administration Center's Service Management System (NPAC SMS).

How does a Service Provider report ported numbers to the NPAC SMS?

Service Providers can either contract directly with Neustar to perform the NPAC SMS updates themselves or they can contract a third party service bureau, such as NECA, to do the updates on their behalf.

Who can benefit from NECA's Number Portability Service?

Any telecommunications carrier can benefit from our Number Portability expertise and established NPAC SMS interface. Our service is designed to meet the needs of small to mid-sized ILEC's, CLEC's and Wireless Carriers.

Does this service have any monthly minimum fees?

NECA offers two plans. Plan A is essentially a "per port occurrence" plan without any monthly minimums. Plan B includes a very competitive monthly minimum that covers up to 250 ports per year.

What is considered a "port occurrence"?

A "port occurrence" is defined as a single telephone number or group of telephone numbers involved in the transfer from one carrier to another at a given data and time.

Where can a Service Provider get more information regarding NECA's NPAC service?

For further information please contact Anna Del Rosario, Product Manager- Call Routing & Rating, 973-884-8387 or Contact Doug Fiumara, Product Development Manager at 973-884-8143.
