What NECA Does
Federal Communications Commission rules mandate that all incumbent local telephone companies must belong to NECA, a non-stock corporation. Formed in 1983 to administer the FCC's access charge plan following the breakup of AT&T and the Bell System, NECA provides a wide range of services to the telecommunications industry. Our 300 plus work force consists of professionals with expertise in telecommunications regulation, the administration of complex public policy programs, and the collection, analysis and forecasting of industry data. Based in Whippany, NJ and operating regional offices in Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, Omaha and Denver, NECA also has a government relations group in Washington, D.C.
