NBANC Submits Fund Requirement for Numbering Administration to FCC
Whippany, NJ - May 5, 2004 – North American Billing and Collection, Inc. (NBANC), has filed with the Federal Communications Commission the proposed size estimate and contribution factor for the North American Numbering Plan Administration (NANPA) Fund for July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2005.
The North American Numbering Plan is the basic telephone numbering system for the public switched network in the US, Canada, Bermuda, and many Caribbean countries. The NANPA Fund reimburses for administration of the numbering plan and for other functions related to numbering administration.
NBANC projects a funding requirement for the next fiscal year of $7 million and proposes that the FCC approve a contribution factor of .000021 that ultimately determines how much each service provider pays into the fund. The 2004 – 2005 requirement decreased from the current year’s $9.8 million primarily due to a contract the FCC signed in 2003 with NeuStar to continue as the North American Numbering Plan Administrator.
