As I write this, the state of our union was addressed recently. I can report with confidence that NECA remains committed fully to helping our members provide to their customers cost effective and superior service. With USF orders that appear favorable to our members currently circulating at the FCC, we will be wholly prepared to assist members with implementation efforts upon release. Our annual tariff election has begun and it is because of this confidence I recommend strongly your continued participation in our tariffs and pools.
Speaking of which, our 2018 tariff initiatives provide strong incentives to remain tariff participants. For our average schedule companies, this year’s filing was made with reduced costs but with all the detail necessary to produce accurate formulas.
Telecom activity is nowhere more vigorous than in D.C. Our latest Washington Report covers as much of it as possible, touching on a pending infrastructure plan, broadband funding and reaction to the Restoring Internet Freedom Order.
For those unable to make the trip to San Antonio for EXPO 2017, this recap will fill you in on what occurred. Our EXPO committee executed an outstanding program featuring diverse classroom sessions, informative industry discussions and introductions to new technology. Avoid suffering from FOMO (fear of missing out) this year and start to consider attending EXPO 2018 in November at the New Orleans Marriott. Full event details will be announced soon.
As always, we will do our best to keep you current on important telecom activity whenever and wherever it occurs.
