Wireline Competition Bureau approves NECA request on waiving fees during pandemic

The FCC issued a news release on April 1, 2020, announcing the Wireline Competition Bureau approved waiver requests from NECA and John Staurulakis, Inc. to allow them to quickly implement tariff changes to ensure NECA and JSI participant companies have the flexibility to keep rural Americans connected during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The tariff changes will allow hundreds of rural phone and broadband providers to waive fees otherwise incurred by customers experiencing economic challenges as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, including late payment fees, installation and cancellation fees for consumers signing up for, or looking to switch providers of, DSL broadband services to work from home or access remote learning.
