June updates 

06.28.18 – The Senate passed the Agriculture and Nutrition Act of 2018 (Farm Bill) with amendments to H.R. 2, the House Farm Bill that passed on June 21, 2018. The bill, among other things, would: establish forward-looking broadband standards; provide incentives for hard to reach communities; and require guaranteed broadband lending. |  press release 

06.27.18 - The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation approved the nomination of Geoffrey Starks to be an FCC commissioner subject to confirmation by the full Senate. |  press release 

06.26.18 – The House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Communications and Technology held a hearing to discuss draft legislation to reauthorize NTIA. NTIA’s role in promoting rural broadband garnered significant attention. | press release 

06.21.18 - The Senate Appropriations Committee approved the Financial Services and General Government Appropriations Bill. The bill contains $333.1 million for the FCC, which is equal to the FY 2019 budget request. | press release 

06.20.18 - The Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation held a hearing to consider the nomination of Geoffrey Starks to be an FCC commissioner.

06.06.18 – President Trump announced the nomination of Geoffrey Starks to the Democratic seat on the FCC on June 4, 2018. If confirmed he will fill the position vacated by Commissioner Mignon Clyburn on June 6, 2018.
